What is The Battle of the Online Conferencing Systems?
Welcome to our EDTEC 550 project web site. We are Gerry De Ocampo and Jeff Dungan, graduate students at San Diego State University during Fall of 2007. This project is for EDTEC 550: Introduction to Distance Education taught by Dr. Fred Saba. This site covers our progress through our capstone project for which we chose to do a technology demonstration of online conferencing systems.
The idea was birthed from our classroom experience using Adobe Connect (formerly known as Breeze) during our synchronous weekly class meetings online. Because Jeff recently discovered an alternative web conferencing software called WiZiQ, we thought it would be interesting to do a comparison between Adobe Connect and WiZiQ. We think our classmates will enjoy learning about WiZiQ and what it has to offer.

Who Are We?
Gerry De Ocampo, M.B.A.
Gerry has 11 years experience as a public educator to middle and high school learners in mathematics, science, and technology, as well as 3 years experience designing training and learning solutions in the government sector for the United States Marines and Navy. He currently serves as a Production Manager, managing the design and development workflow of an instructional design team. Gerry loves languages and is working on becoming trilingual, adding Spanish and modern Greek to his repertoire. He enjoys cycling, tennis, physical fitness, and photography.
Jeff Dungan, M.A.
Jeff is currently seeking his 2nd masters degree in Instructional Design from San Diego State University. An international educator, Jeff has taught in Colombia and The Dominican Republic and has traveled and climbed extensively throughout South America. With degrees in Environmental Science and Biology and certifications in secondary science, Jeff quickly realized the importance of embedding technology into his classroom instruction. He now serves as the academic technology facilitator at the elementary school, Carol Morgan School. When his schedule allows, you can find Jeff spending time with his two children, running, or on the water surfing or kitesurfing. In his past lives, Jeff has been a triathlete, an open water swimming champion, a white water raft guide, an international competitive yacht sailor, a waiter, and a bike mechanic.
